How to Use
- Surface prep: apply directly to clean, dry wood. For fiberglass or metal, clean with acetone or lacquer thinner, sand with 220 grit or coarser and remove the dust. Do not use Varsol or petroleum-based solvents.
- Mixing: 5 parts resin to 1 part hardener by volume. Measure with graduated containers or pumps, mix thoroughly while scraping the sides and bottom, and spread with a solvent-resistant brush, roller or squeegee.
- Recoating: recoat with epoxy as soon as the previous coat is tacky (2–6 hours). Sand with 80 grit once it sands without clogging (8–24 hours).
- Paint or varnish after a 7-day full cure: sand to 220 grit, remove the dust with water and a clean cloth, and let it dry at least 1 hour.
- Working time roughly doubles for every 8 °C drop and halves for every 8 °C rise. Spread the mix out quickly; volumes over 100 mL get hot if left in the pot.
Safety: the Resin (Part A) is labelled WARNING (skin and eye irritant, may cause an allergic skin reaction). The Hardener (Part B) is labelled DANGER: causes severe skin burns and eye damage, may cause an allergic skin reaction, harmful if swallowed or inhaled, may damage fertility or the unborn child, and causes damage to organs (respiratory tract) through prolonged or repeated exposure. Work in a well-ventilated area and wear the supplied gloves plus eye protection. For safety information, refer to the Safety Data Sheets below.
